Development of National Clinical Guidelines
for Ambulance Services (ASA/JRCALC)

JRCALC have established a sub-committee to co-ordinate the development of a set of national clinical guidelines for use by UK Ambulance Services. This sub-committee is working jointly with the ASA/ JRCALC Clinical Effectiveness Committee and the ASA National Clinical Effectiveness Programme. These pages will chart the work of this sub-committee and the development of prehospital guidelines.

JRCALC Guidelines launched online 03 November 2000 News release - The 'Medical Driectors' Guidelines as adopted by JRCALC were launched at the JRCALC Conference on 3 November 2000 and will form the basis of future evidence based guideline development.

Each ambulance service will receive a copy of the guidelines on CD-ROM. They will also be available through the 'Guidelines' pages of the JRCALC website and the 'Emergency Care' Virtual Branch of the National electronic Library for Health (NeLH) http://www.nelh.nhs.uk

16/05/00 An inaugural meeting of the Joint Royal Colleges Ambulance Liaison Committee Clinical Guidelines Sub-Committee (JRCALC-CGC) was held on 16 May 2000 at the Royal College of Physicians, London, to establish the Terms of Reference for the sub-committee, to estimate the funding implications, and to discuss the way forward. Guidelines will be developed based on the template devised by NICE. Performance Indicators and Clinical Audit outlines will be developed in accordance with the NICE guidance.
